The main drawback of the ASUS ProArt P14 with RTX Spark is not the memory, but the storage. The laptop will offer up to 128 GB of combined LPDDR5X, but expanding storage will be much more difficult.
In the base variant, the device will come with 24 GB of RAM and will also be available in 36, 48, 64, and 128 GB configurations. All options will feature 20-core processors designed for high multi-thread workloads. A portion of combined memory is available to graphics accelerators, and Windows 11 will soon allow flexible allocation of available space between the CPU and GPU.
But ASUS decided not to go crazy with SSDs anymore. The ProArt P14 only has one M.2 slot, and the drive will run on PCIe NVMe Gen 4, without support for the faster Gen 5. When purchasing, you can choose between a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD, and for those who don’t have enough, there’s actually the option to pay for an additional 4 TB right away. Against the backdrop of the ongoing memory shortage, such an upgrade could significantly reduce the cost of the wallet.
But users don’t have to carry around a lot of power: the laptop supports USB-C charging with a power of 140 to 240 W. The RTX Spark version will come with a 140W adapter and a 90Wh battery. Asus also claims that partners have fully curated the batches of devices available to them, so there is clearly interest in the new product.
