The first full review appears online Blood of the Dawn Treader – A new role-playing game from Rebel Wolves studio, founded by CD Projekt RED veterans led by former The Witcher 3 game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. Judging by the reviews in Western media, the developers managed to create a decent role-playing game with its own atmosphere and interesting mechanics, although the project still does not reach the level of unconditional hit.
Let us note up front that if you want to support the developer’s first project, we recommend purchasing the game. You can do this in the digital store player base. Don’t forget to use the promo code game kingdombuy any game on Steam and top up your wallet to get a 5% discount.

Obtained upon release of Blood of the Dawn Treader 84 out of 100 on Metacritic Based on first 55 reviews. Meanwhile, the game also scored around 84 on OpenCritic, with around nine out of ten critics recommending it to completion. However, the final numbers may still change as more comments are released.
Journalists particularly praised the storyline, characters, and selection system. One of the main features of Dawn Treader is the ability to solve many problems in multiple ways – sometimes players can refuse to complete a mission entirely. Such decisions do not go unnoticed and may change the further course of events.
The game’s unusual structure plays a big role here. The protagonist Coen needs to complete the main mission within 30 game days, so it is impossible to fully explore the world and complete all side missions in one game. Therefore, players must constantly choose what to spend their time on and which events to ignore.

This particular system has received many positive reviews. Critics point out that the time limit not only forces you to mechanically clear the map of all available activities, but also forces you to actually make decisions and accept the consequences of your choices.
At the same time, the evaluation of the combat system has become more ambiguous. Some critics considered combat to be one of the game’s weaknesses, citing a lack of variety in opponents and the repetition of certain mechanics. There have also been some complaints about how often the game allows the use of Korn’s vampiric abilities.
Interestingly, not all journalists agree with this criticism. GamesRadar, for example, gave the game one of its lowest scores – 6/10, conversely giving a positive review to the combat system but dissatisfaction with the time limit and the way the protagonist’s abilities are used.
The change in ratings makes it clear that Dawn Treader is not a universally popular movie that appeals equally to everyone. The highest ranked were VICE and MonsterVine with scores of 100, with CGMagazine and many other publications giving the game scores between 90-95. IGN gave it a 9/10 rating, while Eurogamer and GameSpot gave it an 8/10 rating. At the bottom of the rankings is GamesRadar (scoring 6/10), along with a handful of publications scoring 7/10.

In general, journalists most often emphasize the atmosphere of the dark medieval world, the variability of plots, passages and unusual time systems. Meanwhile, the game’s technical status still raises questions: some reviewers encountered performance issues and various bugs. An important point is that day-one patches will only be available at the same time as the release, so some issues may still be ironed out.
As a result, Blood of the Dawn Treader starts off with a pretty confident outcome. This isn’t a new unqualified standard for the genre, but for a first game from a young studio, the metric looks pretty good. What is particularly noteworthy is that Rebel Wolf not only succeeds in repeating the formula of The Witcher (with which this project is inevitably compared), but also makes the main elements of the game freely selectable and impossible to see everything in one playthrough.
Blood of the Dawn Treader will be released on September 3, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
