Sonos has launched the Sonos Ace Ultra headphones as part of the Sonos ecosystem. They’re built on Sonos Headphone Engine 2 technology, which allows headphones to be paired with speakers, and will launch on September 29 to coincide with the new product launch. This one-touch feature allows you to stream audio between your headphones and Sonos speakers without the need for additional equipment.

The new headphones are similar to previous Ace models, but have a different look and a slightly different arrangement of buttons on the left earcup. The Ace Ultra has also grown slightly in size and is 10 grams heavier due to the increased ear cup space.
The Ace Ultra features new custom-designed 40mm drivers and 10 microphones, which Sonos claims makes its active noise cancellation system twice as effective as the Ace’s. “On the frequencies that really matter.” At 65 Hz (the overall frequency of the HVAC system), Sonos Ace Ultra is 2.2 times more efficient, and at 120 Hz, aircraft noise is reduced by 1.8 times. The company does not provide information about suppressing ambient speech.
The adaptive equalizer is available in simplified 3-band and “professional” 8-band versions. In addition to SBC and AAC codecs, Ace Ultra supports aptX adaptive lossless Bluetooth and 16-bit/48kHz high-resolution when connected via USB Type-C.
Battery life has been increased by 5 hours, and the Sonos Ace Ultra offers up to 35 hours of listening time with active noise cancellation enabled, according to the manufacturer. A three-minute quick charge adds an additional three hours of listening time.
The Ace Ultra headphones are available in black, white, soft blue, and beige. The headphones will be available on September 29 for $449.
