Apple has begun notifying developers that universal apps in the Mac App Store that require macOS 13 or later may no longer support Intel-based Macs.

“We are writing to inform you that universal macOS apps in the Mac App Store that require macOS 13 or later no longer support Intel-based Macs. Removing support for Intel-based Macs will simplify development and optimize download size and app size on the device. Until now, developers had to ensure their software was compatible with Intel processors; this requirement no longer applies. Mac users with Intel processors can enjoy the latest compatible versions of applications. These changes were rolled out ahead of Apple macOS 27 Golden Gate, which will not support Intel-based computers. Last year, Apple also announced that it would end support for Rosetta 2 after macOS 27, which allows Intel-based software to run on computers equipped with Apple Silicon processors; only certain games are exempted.
