Extended screening of GTA VI attracts Netflix subscribers in 87 countries – more than 31 million views in four days

The extended screening of Rockstar Games’ ambitious open-world crime thriller GTA VI pleased streaming giant Netflix with its audience engagement last week.

Let’s remember that the extended screening took place on August 27th and included 27 minutes of GTA VI gameplay, which turned out to be a temporary exclusive to Netflix. The video appeared on the Rockstar YouTube channel six hours after its premiere.

In four days (August 27 to August 30), GTA VI’s extended run on Netflix garnered 31.1 million views (14 million hours). For comparison: On the Rockstar YouTube channel, within six days of posting, this video attracted 17.8 million views.

It’s worth noting that these services count views differently: Netflix doesn’t count repeat views within the same household, while for YouTube, a view is any content that contains a title (whether a repeat or partial).

The GTA VI demo was recorded on a base model PS5, producing a relatively stable 30fps at 1440p, according to Digital Foundry’s analysis. There is little hope of supporting 60 fps in the console version.

GTA VI will be released on November 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and S, with prices ranging from $80 to $100. After an extended reveal, Rockstar has released new story, gameplay, and technical details about the game.
