According to Djundik, SteamDB was born out of curiosity behind the scenes of Valve’s Steam digital store, and over the years it has grown from a side project to a full-fledged service, and from a hobby to a job.

Djundik was too embarrassed to give up or shut down SteamDB, so the developer decided to find the right partner to continue the legacy – the result was the popular modding platform Nexus Mods.

Partners guarantee that SteamDB will remain SteamDB: “Our goal is not to strip the project of its identity, but to provide it with resources, growth potential and long-term stability. [xPaw] No longer available individually”.
In the future, purchasing SteamDB should help Nexus Mods improve as a platform: specifically with the issue of identifying game versions when installing mods, which often crashes after the next update.
