“Dragon’s Dogma 2” released by Capcom in early 2024 has now received a major update 3.2. With it, a performance-first, proven model appears in games on consoles. The first tests have emerged showing how it works on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Testing Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Xbox Series X

On Xbox Series X, “Dragon’s Dogma 2” allows players to switch between prioritizing quality and performance. There is also an option to choose the quality of resource-intensive effects – between “Low” and “High”. The frame rate can be fixed or variable.

  • In performance-first mode, players can get 1728p and upgrade to 4K resolution. 60 FPS remains pretty solid with any effects option. On a 120 Hz screen you can get 70-80 frames.
  • In quality priority mode, players can get full 4K resolution. The frame rate here is about 40-50, you can fix it at 30 to make the game more comfortable.

On Xbox Series S, the settings are different from Xbox Series X. Here you can select just graphics or FPS priority, and fix the frame rate or leave it variable.

  • In performance-first mode, 1440p is upscaled to 4K. There are about 45-55 frames in this mode, and the frequency rarely reaches 60FPS.
  • In quality-first mode, it’s also 1440p, upscaled to 4K. In this mode, around 30-40 FPS.

Let us remind you that Capcom recently permanently reduced the price of Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Xbox ahead of the DLC’s imminent release.
