This spring, Double Fine Studios released Kiln. This is a multiplayer project about creating your own pots and then competing for them against your opponents. The game received lukewarm reception, with the lowest ratings of any Xbox Game Studios project in the past five years. Double Fine split from Xbox in July, and now they’ve announced that the game’s global pricing will be reduced.
Kiln now costs $7.99 for the standard version on all platforms (previously $19.99). The Fire Up version with additional bonuses is available for $9.99 (previously $29.99).
Kiln also received a huge update across all platforms – the Bisque update, which includes:
- Daily throw mode. Every day, players are given a new theme to create their pots. You can submit your works to other players for evaluation, receive ribbons for them, or you can reward your favorite works yourself.
- Weekly tasks. Missions have been added to the game and updated weekly. They involve crafting jars and battles, and players are awarded extra chips and experience points for completing them.
- Games on player servers. Battles can now be fought on servers created by players themselves. Lobbies for up to 8 people have also appeared, allowing you to save a group between matches.
- Customized games. Players can create their own matches for groups of 8 people. You can choose the map, game mode, team composition and number of bots.
- Expand your potted plant collection. Maximum size increased to 80 pots.
- Pot Magazine. The new log allows you to track all can prototypes of each size, view built and missing options, and statistics for each prototype.
- 2 new cards. Poseidon’s Bubble Bath is a vertical map with a dangerous giant shell between the furnaces. Ra’s Sunshine Nursery is a card that references Egyptian patterns.
- Increase the maximum level. Increased to 60 (previously 50).
- New decoration set. The Psychonauts 2 Decoration Pack is now available for $1.99 and includes 20 new decorations as well as a free Sunshine and Surf Decoration Pack containing 22 summer items.
Let’s remember that Double Fine stripped the rights to all of its games when it separated from Xbox. But their projects can still be found on Game Pass.
