At PlayStation State of Play, Square Enix nailed it! The release date for the remake trilogy’s finale has been confirmed.

There was no expected news about Final Fantasy VII: Revelations’ release date at Gamescom, but ultimately we won’t have to wait too long. Square Enix is using the stage at today’s PlayStation State of Play to discuss just that.

At Sony’s press conference, the company showed off a new trailer and extensive gameplay material at the end of the remake trilogy, and announced a release date. Starting on April 8, 2027, “Final Fantasy VII: Revelations” will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC) and will provide the final ending.

Various locations on the open planet and on the Highwind airship are shown off in the trailer and in the game’s deep dive. Piko, a loyal chocobo, evolves with the group, learning new locomotion and combat skills. The new playable characters are Cid and Vincent, and you can still expect a hybrid combat system and the new WEAR system. The latter aims to provide you with new skills through the special roles of warrior, knight, black magician and summoner. In the film, Sid and Vincent play the knight and the summoner respectively.

As you explore the world, you’ll be able to freely switch between actively controlled characters. Furthermore, the composition of the group can change again and again. New gameplay features also include the new rope gun, which makes it possible to quickly climb to rooftops.

On April 8, 2027, the “Final Fantasy VII: Revelations” remake trilogy finally came to an end, almost exactly 7 years after the release of the first part. Final Fantasy VII Remake was released on April 10, 2020.
