Gran Turismo 7’s upcoming Spec IV update will be split into two parts

The creators of car simulator Gran Turismo 7 have shared the first details of the Spec IV update, which will be part of preparations for the series’ 30th anniversary in 2027. Due to the large number of changes, the free update will be divided into two parts. The first will be released in October 2026 and the second in December.

The main innovation in the October part will be the Sportsland SUGO circuit in Japan. It is known for its dramatic elevation changes, flowing structures and Dunlop Bridge. In December, Autumn Ring, which first appeared in the original game of the series, will return to Gran Turismo 7. The developers haven’t revealed whether the track will be available in all configuration options.

During the two-part release of Spec IV, 12 new vehicles will be added to the game. The specific model has not yet been named. Polyphony Digital intends to disclose them later.

The update will also expand the competition section. The game will feature online drift competitions where participants must compete on car control, accuracy and driving style. Another new mode will be racing under randomized conditions, forcing players to adapt to changing conditions on the track.

In addition to new ways to compete, the developers have prepared additional driving challenges, an expanded car gallery, new progression elements, and a concierge feature for purchasing cars. Details of these opportunities are promised to be announced at a later date.

Family mode will appear in Spec IV in December. It is designed for friends and family of different driving levels to play together. The developers believe this is an easier way to experience Gran Turismo 7, and it should also provide new options for already experienced players.

Polyphony Digital will provide more information on both parts of Spec IV during Stage 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series in Singapore on October 3. At the same time, the developers will also tell more about new cars, tracks, modes and other updated features.
