Firesprite Studios has announced the exact release date for interactive horror game Until Dawn 2. The game will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on January 28, 2027. Pre-orders will begin on September 10, 2026.
The new story will feature a group of aspiring YouTubers filming staged videos about ghosts. The eight members of the Dead True Project will travel to the Autumn Islands in the South Pacific, where they will face a real supernatural threat. A chicken that has become the team’s mascot will accompany them.
Firesprite is responsible for the plot along with AdHoc Studio, known for the interactive game Dispatch. The author promises extensive relationships between the characters in the story, with complex decisions and consequences that will extend into further developments.
“Every choice, every interaction has dramatic consequences. We wanted to create a story where the player’s decisions truly matter, and the consequences may take a while to unfold. Characters will be faced with situations where they need to make tough choices, and their actions can completely change the course of events,” said Stu Tilley, creative director at Firesprite.
The new trailer shows off the initial circumstances leading Dead True to Akishima. Initially, the team investigates an incident that took place at Blackwood Nursing Home 12 years ago. The heroes’ plans take a dramatic turn after intern Izzy discovers something unexpected. Later, at a horror festival in Sydney, they meet Yuna, a survivor of a supernatural attack. The girl reveals her black, necrotic scar, warning the heroes of the danger, and they travel to an abandoned island.
The island has been uninhabited since the luxury resort mysteriously closed in the 1970s. The trailer claims that local secrets go back centuries and are tied to a thirst for revenge.
Players must make decisions for the different members of Dead True. For example, Owen might go looking for his missing friend Nate after receiving a call for help, or he might head to Ponte Vecchio and explore an unusually busy bar. The alternative would give him more information, but also put Nate in danger.
Mina will face a tougher decision. The management of the TV channel will require that the sacrificial ceremony be performed live. Players must decide whether to sacrifice the chicken for this or release it at their own risk.
