Pocketpair Studios has announced that the sandbox Craftopia has finally entered early access and will be fully released in 2027. Update 1.0 will be the next big milestone for the game, which celebrates its sixth anniversary today.
The developer admitted that after Palworld launched, some players felt like Craftopia had faded into the background. Pocketpair apologized for the lack of communication and said the team has continued to develop the game. The studio’s growth in recent years has also allowed it to devote more resources to Craftopia and solve many legacy technical problems that were previously extremely difficult to solve.
According to studio representatives, Craftopia has undergone tremendous changes and received a wealth of new content in more than six years. However, before the release of version 1.0, the developers’ focus is not on further expanding the scope of the game, but on improving existing content, fixing remaining issues, and improving overall quality.
New content will still come with version 1.0, but developers warn that the new content in this update may not be as big as some players expect. At the same time, the game will appear on Xbox Series X|S consoles, as well as in the Microsoft Store on PC.
With Xbox One, things get more complicated. Developers report that they are unable to achieve acceptable levels of performance and stability on this console. As a result, Pocketpair will cease development of the Xbox One version of Craftopia, and version 1.0 will not be released on the platform.
The studio explained that many of the issues with the Xbox version were caused by a lack of in-house experience when creating it. Over the next few years, the team spent considerable time and resources solving technical issues related to the console version, ultimately preparing Craftopia 1.0 for Xbox Series X|S.
Craftopia is one of the first major projects in Pocketpair’s history. The game was originally created by a small group of friends who wanted to make their own project. The company said that without Craftopia, Pocketpair would not exist in its current form, and Palworld might not exist either.
The developer will continue to develop the game until version 1.0 is released, and has promised to reveal more details about the update when it launches in 2027.
