
Sony has faced a wave of criticism after distorted data about optical media output at the company’s factories appeared in the media.
Kotaku founder Brian Crescent issued a formal statement of denial from the management of the DADC division responsible for distributing the discs. It turns out that in a recent interview with an Austrian publication, they were talking about only a 10% drop in total production and not a reduction in circulation to 10% as previously reported.
A company representative confirmed that games released before January 2028 will be able to receive repeat orders for disc printing. However, this did not save the company from a reputational crisis: gamers continued to boycott the brand and organized weeks of online silences to protest against the digital future.
