Xiaomi is so confident in its power battery that it is even preparing to replace a car that burned out due to the power battery with a new one.

For a long time, electric vehicles have suffered from reputational damage due to spontaneous combustion incidents, in addition to their high cost, short range and long charging time. Battery production and safety technology have come a long way in recent years, and Xiaomi itself offers hybrid buyers very interesting company warranty terms, which means replacing a burned-out car with a new one.

However, we are only discussing models equipped with the new Dragonscale series power batteries, as explained China Auto News. These include the recently launched Skynomad family of hybrids. Xiaomi works closely with professional manufacturers AVIC Lithium Battery and Sunwanda to develop power batteries for them; the first person to buy a car equipped with such batteries will receive Xiaomi’s lifetime warranty. Indeed, to do this, you must connect to a proprietary cloud service that allows you to perform telemetry on operational metrics and perform regular service maintenance at the brand center.

The manufacturer’s warranty also covers damage caused by spontaneous combustion of the power battery due to manufacturing defects. In this case, the automaker prepares to replace the burned-out car with a new one with the same features and configurations. Warranty terms are a little more relaxed for fires caused by a collision or damage to the underbody where the battery is located, but still attractive. In this case, Xiaomi promised to pay the car owner the difference between the insurance compensation and the cost of the new car.

These conditions do not apply to cars used for commercial purposes, whether taxis or car sharing. If the vehicle is resold, the second owner will also lose similar warranty coverage for the power battery. Xiaomi claims that the durability and safety of the Dragon Scale series power batteries exceed the requirements of Chinese national standards. Additional insulation and emergency mechanisms for disconnecting power from defective batteries can prevent the spread of fire within the structure. The battery management system is always in contact with a proprietary “cloud” and monitors battery condition ten times more frequently than required by the national standards of the People’s Republic of China. Xiaomi’s Skynomad N90 and N70 hybrids, which will be officially sold starting tomorrow, will receive batteries from this series and accompanying warranty coverage.
