Blood Moon changes the rules of hunting in The Hunt: Showdown 1896

Crytek has released update 2.9 for the PvPvE shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896. As part of the Blood Covenant event, the developers added a new time of day, the Blood Moon, which appears in the invasion area and changes between two phases during the mission. When the blood moon is bright, the clouds are clear and the earth is red, monsters become more aggressive and attack faster. The dark phase is accompanied by dense clouds and reduced visibility, and monster behavior returns to normal. The intensity of the red light changes depending on how obscured the moon is by clouds.

A Burgess breaching shotgun with a long barrel and a six-round tubular magazine appeared in the armory. The weapon takes up three units of capacity and takes a long time to draw and stow. It can be modified with a bayonet and reinforced butt. The latter turns a powerful melee attack into a blow reminiscent of a hammer blow. All three options are first unlocked through the Battle Pass as part of Blood Alliance, and after completing the event, the shotgun will enter the regular weapon progression system.

Hidden information systems have undergone significant changes. Supply points, recon towers, and evacuation points are now hidden by default. Examining clues will reveal two extraction points, and a scout map may appear at a supply location. The detection radius of hidden locations has been increased to 75 meters, and the telescope will still display its icon on the compass.

Two new burning skills have also been added to the game.

  • “Pumping Up” allows you to gain rare skills from dead enemy hunters, and let him get “Pumping Up” itself in return. “Imaginary Death” becomes the priority for stealing, and for solo hunters, in the absence of this skill, “Necromancer” will take precedence, although it can only be obtained from team members.
  • Chupacabra allows you to restore one health point after interacting with a live horse, cow, or animal cage. Once unlocked, the skill can be purchased for two Development Points

Other changes include new conditions for activating the skills “Vulture” and “Light Walk”, nerfing the hunting bow and reducing the ammunition capacity of some weapons, strengthening the terminal, expanding the number of hunter slots from 75 to 100, and saving skills in equipment groups. There is also a temporary MMR fix for returning players, gradually reducing the difficulty of the game after a long absence.
