Demon’s Souls remake is available on PC thanks to KytyPS5 emulator, but performance is still not promising

The remaster of FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed action RPG Demon’s Souls, released by Bluepoint Games on PS5 in 2020, has never launched on PC, but the developer of the KytyPS5 emulator refuses to accept that reality.

As the portal points out DSSO gamesKyTyPS5 is the first PS5 emulator capable of running the remastered version of Demon’s Souls and entering the game area. In comparison, SharpEmu’s best achievement is in the character editor section.

The nearly 12-minute video, posted by blogger PSXTech (see video below), shows gameplay of Demon’s Souls Remastered on PC, including a clip introducing a level.

PSXTech tested Demon’s Souls on KyTyPS5 using three configurations: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, Intel Core i5-14400F and RTX 4060, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 090.

It is worth noting that at the current stage of KyTyPS5 development, it is not possible to complete the “Demon’s Souls” remake on PC. Even taking the system’s performance into account, the game’s frame rate on PSXTech is only 1-2 frames/second.

It’s worth noting in this context that the KyTyPS5 is in principle capable of displaying the graphics of the Demon’s Souls remake in its entirety without serious visual issues. Just two months ago, the emulator was barely capable of running games.

KyTyPS5’s progress has fans hoping to see Rockstar Games’ ambitious open-world crime thriller GTA VI on PC ahead of its official release. The emulator can already play GTA V.
