Galaxy Z Fold8 users complain about ‘dents’ on screen – Samsung says it’s intentional

Users of the hugely popular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 smartphone are starting to report that on some copies, the corners of the inner screen bend inwards at the frame when tapped. The manufacturer says this is intentional and not a manufacturing defect.

After a series of complaints, Samsung says Korean version business postIt’s normal for the screen to crack at the corners. This design was chosen to take into account the possibility of foreign matter, including sand, entering the screen. When Samsung designed this unit, the display curved slightly to provide shock absorption and prevent damage from these situations and other everyday impacts.

However, users have noticed that there can be differences between replicas of the same model: in some cases, the display is completely solid, while in others there is a noticeable dent in one or more corners. There are unsubstantiated concerns that this bend may reduce the water resistance of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8.

Regardless, buyers will likely continue to view the soft screen corners as a drawback rather than a design feature.
