Iron Gate AB studio has announced that survival simulator Valheim has officially moved from early access to full release. The game can be purchased on PC through the service steam Priced at 1,299 rubles, it is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and for the first time on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The project supports cross-play between all versions, and 1 to 10 people can be on the same server at the same time.
The main innovation of Update 1.0 is the Far North region, which completes the collection of major biomes in Valheim. Along with this comes more than 40 new weapons, new bombs and ammunition, four sets of armor, two cloaks, tools, more than a dozen new creatures, new locations and events. The construction system has also been expanded with more than 80 elements, and the materials and dishes lists have been supplemented with dozens of new items.
Version 1.0 also brings some new mechanics. These include improved pockets, achievements, new music tracks, and other ways to develop your character. The developers have also made optimizations including reducing micro-freezes when loading areas and speeding up game saves.
Publishing does not require restarting the game. Old saves still work, but the developers recommended a new world, as Far North generation only works properly in unexplored areas. Achievements can also be earned in the old world, but their progression begins the moment the update is installed.
Valheim is a survival simulator set in a procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology. Players must master one of multiple worlds divided into biomes with different conditions, resources, and opponents. To survive, you need to acquire materials, craft tools, weapons and equipment, master crafts and prepare food. Exploration gradually opens up new areas and recipes, and sea travel can take you to faraway lands.
An important part of the gameplay is developing your own base. Starting from a simple shelter, you can create houses, settlements and defensive structures, taking into account the physical properties of the building, protection from external threats and the layout of the house. The combat system includes melee and ranged weapons, defensive gear, dodging and blocking attacks, and nutrition that affects your character’s maximum health and stamina. Different regions are home to unique creatures and powerful bosses known as the Forsaken. Defeating them grants you new abilities and materials, allowing you to progress as you explore the world and prepare you for further challenges.
