The story of “Hive: The World Beyond” takes place on the planet Sota7, where the protagonist arrives after being put into cryo-sleep. Players must explore local biomes, extract resources, create tools and build their base. One of the main mechanics is bioengineering. Collected plant and animal specimens can be studied and then used to create new life forms and hybrid creatures. In the laboratory, players can also grow plants and conduct experiments with found materials.
The base performs multiple functions simultaneously. It contains living areas and laboratories, and its modular design allows the building to be expanded with new rooms and corridors. The building is built using the Art Nouveau theme of natural forms, and the location of the new parts can be changed according to the surrounding area.
