Samsung Electronics marketers reacted as expected to the launch of Apple’s first foldable smartphone, but if we put aside their most aggressive comments on social networks, the South Korean company generally expects demand for its own foldable smartphone to increase after its rival launches its first similar device.

at least in conversation CNBC Samsung Electronics representatives cited statistics showing that the number of buyers switching from iOS to the Galaxy Z Fold8 series of smartphones launched in July was 1.6 times that of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7. The Galaxy Fold series was first released in 2019, and even this year, it will retain a 38% market share for flexible display foldable smartphones, according to Counterpoint Research’s forecast, although debutant Apple can secure second place with a 25% market share.
As a Samsung representative added, around 30% of Galaxy Z Flip8 buyers in the U.S. switched to this series of smartphones from competitors, with the majority buying a foldable smartphone for the first time. Galaxy Z Fold8 buyers most often cite the device’s slim design and lightweight, as well as its internal display for easy multitasking and viewing, as key purchase factors. Users who choose the Galaxy Fold8 Ultra will benefit from the additional workspace provided by the flexible display, allowing them to replace their tablets with smartphones.
Samsung is also working to simplify the migration process from iPhone to smartphones. With the new version of the Galaxy Switch app, Apple smartphone users can start the migration process simply by using a QR code without having to install the app on their iPhone.
