The recent Nintendo Direct held on September 9th brought a surprise to all fans of the fighting game genre. SNK has officially confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to the cult series, Hungry Wolf: Castle of Wolves, will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

The developers have shared the game’s exact release date so fans can plan their purchases in advance. The digital version of “Hungry Wolf: Castle of Wolves” will be released to Nintendo Switch 2 users on October 22. Those who prefer to add a physical copy of the game to their collection and have it on their shelves can purchase the boxed version at a later date – physical media is scheduled for release in January 2027. A nice bonus for the most loyal fans will be a special offer: for the soon-to-be-opened pre-order, players will receive exclusive access to the classic retro costume of public favorite Mai Shiranui.

However, SNK’s big surprises didn’t end there. A massive and very unexpected collaboration with the popular manga and anime Tokyo Avengers has been announced as part of the third season of Hungry Wolf: Castle of Wolves. The roster of fighters will include two of the iconic and most well-known characters from the series: the unbeatable leader of the Tokyo Swastika Gang, Sano Manjiro (also known to fans as Mikey), and his loyal friend Ken Ryuguji (aka Draken).
