Employment tribunal hearings in the Rockstar Games case have begun in Glasgow. The games industry union IWGB accused the studio of illegally firing 31 employees who worked on “Grand Theft Auto 6.” The union said the men were fired for trying to unionize but had no right of appeal and were blacklisted.
Rockstar Games representatives categorically deny the accusations. According to management, the dismissal was related solely to a serious breach of confidentiality rules and the dissemination of confidential information about the project in the company’s Discord channel. The trial will last until October 16, just one month before “GTA 6” is scheduled to be released on November 19, and may set a historical precedent for protecting developer rights in the UK.
