Russia has begun mass production of “flying electric vehicles”

Mass production of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles has reportedly begun in the Kemerovo region TASS Reference is made to Technical Director of Production Maxim Ivlev.

“We have developed a single-seat electric aircraft, that is, an electric vehicle – eVTOL. The mass production site is located in Kemerovo. So far, in Russia, we are the only manufacturer. Apart from the purchase of foreign motors and batteries, production is entirely provided by us.<..>Five people have ordered and are waiting for equipment. At maximum load, we can ship up to a hundred devices per year. “– said Mr. Ivlev.

The car is an eco-friendly vehicle and leaves no carbon footprint. Operators can weigh up to 75 kilograms, and eight electric motors provide up to 30 minutes of flight time. Lift-off from the ground is carried out vertically, so no horizontal stripes are needed when the machine takes off. The manufacturer offers several versions of the vehicle depending on the person’s weight – up to 75, 90 and 110 kg; without a driver, the car can accelerate up to 95 km/h.

Maxim Ivlev said that such aircraft will soon replace helicopters because they are based on new generation technology. Lightweight composite materials, including carbon, were used in production, with a titanium alloy body responsible for the overall strength of the structure. The control module includes advanced electronic solutions that perform 90% of the complex tasks of assisting air operators. It has an automatic stabilization mechanism, an intuitive interface, a repeatable key system, and an automatic rescue parachute release function.

To take off, you need visibility less than 2 kilometers, clear skies and an air temperature of -15 to +30 °C. Flying in the snow is possible in winter, but there are certain risks. A five-hour course in meteorology and aerodynamics is recommended for less experienced operators, but can be accomplished without these courses. The manufacturer holds an aviation activity license issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and has the technical capabilities to produce two aircraft. Russian Federal Aviation Regulations do not require certification of equipment weighing up to 115 kg – they qualify as self-contained construction; registration is carried out through Gosuslugi.
