Looks like even months after release Goethe 1 remake Developers continue to surprise players with game content. A fan involved in the project’s Czech localization examined the remaster’s internal files and found traces of many mechanics, characters, and storylines that never made it into the final version. We’re not just talking about early concepts: for some features, complete models, animations, interfaces, dialogues, and even elements of game logic have been retained.
One of the most interesting findings is fishing. These files contain a separate FishingWidget interface, a bait selection menu, a special fishing rod with its own entity and skeleton, and a set of hero animations. And, the world is ready for fishing with chairs and rods. Apparently, players can only fish at certain points, but it won’t be possible to interact with them in the final version. As far as we know, a full-fledged system is indeed in development, but we don’t know if it will ultimately be canceled or simply shelved.

A more unusual finding is that “Love Story”. The data contains a separate love story puzzle with its own activation point, objects related to dead characters, drawings of women, objects, and references to the tower. Traces of this story also led the artist to leave a note in a cave near the old camp. At the same time, even a fragment of the unfinished text has been preserved. However, it is impossible to completely restore the plot: a large part of the necessary logic is in the code and cannot be studied. So we’re talking about an unfinished storyline that’s actually confirmed, rather than a fully restored mission.

The result was cut off crow of hadas. Furthermore, its existence is not only confirmed by documentation – the bird actually appeared in one of the pre-release trailers. A separate model is prepared for her, including black and red colors, textures, materials, flight, landing and screaming animations, as well as images of diary and bestiary. The crow doesn’t appear in the final game, although it’s clear from the level of detail that it’s a full-fledged game object rather than a random decoration from the trailer.

Interesting traces were also found in the Brotherhood of Sleepers. Developers plan to give players opportunities give yourself a tattooconfirm community membership. To do this, a special paint is made from black grass, mole fat, and blood fly stings, and then the entire process is completed. The stats even maintain separate tattoo options for novice, master, and templar. This mechanism is not available in the final version.

Another ritual of the Brotherhood—— shave head. The conversation explains that the bald head is supposed to symbolize the unity of the community members and their desire to be close to the Sleeper. Players may voluntarily consent to the procedure upon first obtaining the razor. Judging from the existing data, this should be another way to visually change the appearance of the hero after joining the Brotherhood.
One of the biggest discoveries is orc women. The files contain 271 lines of orc-related dialogue, as well as a complete model with independent textures for the head, body and legs, its own skeleton, clothing physics and over a hundred facial morphs. In the game itself, only one Orc Shaman has a separate branch of dialogue, so this amount of data is a clear indication of the broader idea. Perhaps at some point, the developers plan to add a few female characters or delve further into orc society.

Surprisingly, there is a lot of unfinished material related to this Laoying Arena. In the game, Scuti has talked about future battles and stakes, but this system has not been carried over. There is a prepared betting room above the arena, an unused door control mechanism inside the arena, and separate music for the battle event lasting approximately 50 seconds is saved in the file. What’s more, the 2023 trailer shows fighting monsters in an arena, something that wasn’t possible in the release version. All of which points to plans to make the arena a full-fledged venue for back-and-forth battles, bets, and possibly even battles against a variety of opponents.

Another interesting story with toy manufacturer. Already in the game you can find his workshop, a note and several unfinished wooden toys under the ruins of the village. However, documents reveal that the story has its own game mod, six different toy items, and its own inventory items. Furthermore, the text associated with it is dated only a few weeks before publication, suggesting that this part of the work was very late. Perhaps the plot of “The Toymaker” was originally supposed to be much bigger.
Finally, at some point the developers will add Weight Limit. The interface still has a separate widget that displays the current weight, maximum capacity, and weight of a specific item. Capacity should be determined by the toughness stat, exceeding the limit will not only disable new items from being picked up, but also slow down the hero. In the final version, the inventory has almost no weight limit, so the system remains inactive.
Therefore, the Gothic 1 Remake archive allows you to see the game at various stages of production. In addition to small cutout mechanics like shaving and weight limits, the developers have managed to prepare an entire system – fishing, an expanded arena, female orcs, personal stories, and even the unique crow Xardas.
However, the information found does not yet confirm the development of DLC. In theory, some of these developments could form the basis for major additions or future updates, as some systems already have model, text, and logic elements. However, there is currently no evidence that Alkimia Interactive actually intends to return the deleted content.
