While Sony has closed the door on single-player gaming on PC, PS5 emulator enthusiasts have created a real technological breakthrough. The KyTyPS5 emulator boosted the performance of Demon’s Souls Remake from a mere 2 FPS to 10-18 frames per second in one version. That’s not the only good news – for the first time, Astro Bot can be launched directly into the game.
The results for Demon’s Souls are particularly impressive. Bluepoint Games’ game used to be nearly mobile, but now its framerates are almost console-level. A comfortable gaming experience is still a long way off, but it’s a significant step forward for an emulator in the early stages of development.
Astro Bot also manages to branch out beyond loading. Indeed, it currently runs at around 11 FPS and suffers from numerous graphical bugs. Furthermore, for this launch, we are not using a high-end system, but a PC with an Intel Core i3-10105F and a GeForce RTX 5060.
This all looks particularly interesting in the context of Sony’s new policy, which will no longer release single-player games on PC as it did in the days of God of War and Horizon. While the company tries to maintain exclusivity on PlayStation, emulators are slowly approaching them from the other side.
