Seattle-based studio Polyarc has officially announced its closure after nearly 12 years in business, marking a significant loss for the virtual reality industry. The team is best known for creating the critically acclaimed Moss duology, about the brave mouse Quill, and subsequently releasing a traditional version of the game that didn’t require a VR headset.
In a farewell statement on LinkedIn, the studio’s management noted that their journey together has come to an end and that active development of the project has been completely limited. To support laid-off specialists, the team published a special form listing the contact details of various types of developers, calling on colleagues in the store to help them find new jobs. The incident adds to the tragic statistics of closures and layoffs that continue to plague the gaming industry.
