While there was a content roadmap for the previous game ahead of Diablo V’s release, no major expansions are planned. In this regard, Diablo IV’s story ends with two major add-ons.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV was originally released in 2023 and is known to have two major expansions: Ark of Hate and Lords of Hate. Despite a roadmap for the next few years, the third such add-on will no longer be available. Game director Brent Gibson explained this after BlizzCon.

During an interview with an English-speaking colleague computer gamer Gibson confirmed that the team’s main focus has been on the newly released Diablo V, which should make a splash in 2029:

“We are all focused on the season [von Diablo IV] And the path to Diablo V. We feel like we’ve told the story of hate. “We’ve reached a great conclusion in the story of Lords of Hate and Mephisto, and now we’re going to continue telling the story of Terror,” Gibson said.

The storyline of Diablo IV will continue until new parts are released through previously announced seasonal updates. The new installment is set a century after the events of Diablo IV. This should give the development team many new threads to the franchise’s narrative, but continuity will still play an important role:

“The events of Diablo V take place 100 years after the events of Diablo IV. This gives us a lot of room to work with fans to see where the story and journey is going. The idea of continuity does excite us, but we don’t have a completely solid idea of what’s going to happen next because we want to wait and see how fans respond each season.”

At the same time, Blizzard has no plans to shut down the servers of “Diablo IV” after the release of “Diablo V”. The game director promised that support for the game will continue “for a long time.”
