Insiders report that AMD is preparing a new generation of FSR 5 scaling technology that supports neural rendering, which will be exclusive to RDNA 5. If the leak is true, the company will rely not only on upscaling or filtering the final image similar to DLSS 5, but also on neural network data processing directly from the game engine.
Unlike DLSS 5, FSR 5 is said to have direct access not only to motion vectors and colors, but also to the complete geometry of the scene – all information about depth and polygon meshes will also be included in the processed data.
AMD is said to be developing special neural arrays for this new technology – combined blocks of computing resources designed to accelerate low-level neural network operations. Due to this hardware requirement, FSR 5 is rumored to only run on Radeon RX 10000 series graphics cards.
