Electric motors are commonly used in construction and earthmoving equipment: not only are they more efficient, they also provide the necessary smoothness. Where power lines are not possible, hybrid technology can be used to retain all the advantages of electrical equipment. Therefore, as reported by the press service of the Rosspetsmash Association, its member factory DST-URAL introduce The first Russian bulldozer model E12 equipped with a hybrid power unit.

The bulldozer is based on the series hybrid principle well known to car enthusiasts: there is a diesel internal combustion engine connected to a generator. All other dozer systems are run by electric motors, meaning there is no direct mechanical connection between the “diesel engine” and the drive wheels/roller.
The manufacturer claims that this type of bulldozer is about 30% more economical than traditional bulldozers powered directly by diesel engines, and eliminates the gearbox, cardan shaft and torque converter, thereby reducing the cost of the machine and making maintenance and repairs simpler and more convenient.
