Ubisoft has launched a new edition of its Under the Hood series dedicated to Star Wars: Galaxy Racer technology. This time, Hibi, a mechanic from the Shade team, talks about the Skim Speeder, the fastest repulsor transport in the game.
The car’s main advantage is its maximum speed, which is especially noticeable on long straights. At the same time, the Skim Speeder accelerates more slowly than other speeders and is not as strong as the Land Speeder, although it is significantly stronger than the lightweight Speederbike. Therefore, it often plays a catch-up role in the first few seconds of the game.
In order not to lose momentum while turning, players need to use the Blade Technique. Turning too sharply robs the car of inertia and takes time to regain maximum speed, so the Ramjet and Afterburner will help compensate for the error.
The developers note that controlling the Skim Speeder effectively requires practice and the ability to maintain momentum on difficult tracks. The next episode of Behind the Scenes will discuss other types of transportation. Star Wars: Galaxy Racer will be released on October 6 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
