Despite a poor response from critics, the recently released superhero action movie Marvel’s Wolverine from US studio Insomniac Games (Marvel’s Spider-Man Part II) doesn’t seem to be disappointing PlayStation sales.

precious data Analysis agency Alinea Analytics said that PS5 users enthusiastically welcomed the new console exclusive. Marvel’s “Wolverine” sold 1.9 million copies in three days, earning about $130 million.
This achievement allowed Marvel’s “Wolverine” to surpass the sales of the PS5 version of “Death Stranding 2: Beach” in half a week, reaching 1.8 million copies sold and $129 million in revenue in 14 months.

Marvel’s Wolverine also scores the highest among all PS5 exclusive games (full version/console version) in 2026:
- Marathon – 1.8 million copies, $60 million;
- MLB The Show 26 – $1.5 million, $99 million;
- Marvel Stock: “Fighting” – $740,000, $49 million;
- Salo – 510,000, $40 million.
Sure, criticism from journalists and gamers has damaged Marvel’s Wolverine’s image, but it’s unlikely to matter in the long run – passive gamers will make up the bulk of the game’s audience, and they’ll buy it for the sake of the brand.

“Wolverine will continue to sell, but not to the level of Spider-Man. Spider-Man is evergreen, but Wolverine is more of an evergreen.””, predicts Rhys Elliott, Head of Market Analysis at Alinea Analytics.
Marvel’s Wolverine launches on PS5 on September 15, but under Sony’s new strategy, it won’t be coming to PC. Despite the negative reception on social networks, the game has a rating of over 4.7 out of 5 (i.e. 95 out of 100%) on the PS Store.
