WhatsApp extension Conversations can also be customized on Android. After rolling out the new theme on iOS, the organization is making the service available to some users using a beta version of the Google operating system.
The novelty was discovered in the WhatsApp beta version 2.26.37.6 for Android distributed through the Google Play Store. The system introduces new themes and wallpaper categories, including some animation options that separate the selection of simple wallpapers from the selection of entire themes.

This structure restores the structure already introduced on iOS. The Featured category brings together a range of available themes, while Nature offers images inspired by natural landscapes, including deserts, forests, mountains and coastal environments. Minimal, on the other hand, eliminates patterns and embellishments, while Doodle adopts the classic graphic patterns associated with WhatsApp wallpapers.

WhatsApp also steps in Conversation readability. The color of the message bubble is automatically selected based on the selected background to maintain sufficient contrast. Anyone who doesn’t like the suggested combination can still change it manually.
This feature is being rolled out gradually and may not be available to all users of beta version 2.26.37.6. Therefore, some accounts may have to wait to see the new categories in the theme selector. WhatsApp has not indicated a specific date for general availability. However, the feature’s presence in Android beta suggests that the customization features introduced on iOS will gradually appear on other major mobile platforms as well.
