HP launches mobile workstation HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro 400 processor. The older version came with the flagship Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and 192 GB of unified memory. According to the manufacturer, this enhanced laptop allows you to locally run AI models with up to 300 billion parameters and also supports the Perplexity Computer AI agent.

The HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 was co-developed with AMD. The older configuration comes with a 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor with support for 32 threads and a frequency of up to 5.2 GHz. The chip also includes an integrated Radeon 8065S graphics card with 40 compute units and a 55 TOPS neural processor. Of the 192 GB of unified memory, up to 160 GB can be allocated to meet the needs of the graphics core.
The LPDDR5X chip is soldered to the motherboard next to the processor, so the amount of memory cannot be increased after purchase. However, with a maximum capacity of 192 GB, such a need is unlikely. For the 128 GB and 192 GB configurations, HP claims memory speeds of up to 8000 MT/s, although the resources received save review Pre-production samples feature LPDDR5X-8533.

This laptop offers a variety of 16-inch screen options. These include IPS panels with a resolution of 1920×1200 to 3840×2400 pixels, and OLED touch displays with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. Older screens support refresh rates up to 120Hz.
An important part of the HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is a set of software tools for local AI work. Perplexity Computer will be able to access models installed on computers and process design data without sending confidential files to the cloud. If necessary, users will be able to offload tasks to cloud models. HP and Perplexity have also developed a dedicated set of features available to HP PC users.
Announced support for professional applications Autodesk Revit 2027, Autodesk 3ds Max and Chaos Enscape. Additionally, there is an MCP connector that allows Perplexity Computer to interact with Autodesk Revit projects.
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is 17.9 mm thick and weighs 1.9 kg. The cooling system is designed to handle up to 100 W of continuous power, nearly double the 55 W of the previous 14-inch ZBook Ultra G1a. A single heat sink plate covers the processor and memory chips, and two fans dissipate heat through the heat sink located at the rear of the case.
For installing drives, there is an M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot that supports SSDs up to 8 TB. The mobile workstation also comes with a replaceable 96 Wh battery, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1, USB-C, USB-A and supports Wi-Fi 7. A 5G modem will be available as an option.
The cost of the HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 has not been disclosed. The laptop will be available in October. The performance of the production version, including when running large language models, has yet to be tested: StorageReview has received pre-production samples and plans to test them once the final version of the device is released.
