The inZOI team discussed the next update and took on role autonomy again. The main focus is on Zoe’s actions and dialogue, which should better account for the relationships, emotions, and circumstances of what’s going on.
In a minor update in October, the conversation system will immediately begin analyzing multiple factors before selecting a response. It will take into account the relationship between the characters, the emotional state of both interlocutors and the current situation. The developers admit that in the past, due to Zoe’s more abstract approach, they sometimes chose dialogue that didn’t quite fit a particular moment.
However, the new system created another problem. The more accurate it is at selecting appropriate cues, the smaller the set of options available. As a result, the characters began to repeat themselves more frequently, so the developers simultaneously increased the amount and variety of dialogue.
Autonomy remains one of inZOI’s main areas of development. The team is also continuing to edit offline behavior that was not included in the September update. Specifically, the developers want customers to choose seats for customers and employees to use designated chairs and tools.
Therefore, Zoe should be more aware of her surroundings and independently choose actions appropriate to the situation. The developers hope that, thanks to this, characters will feel less like a set of pre-prepared reactions and more like living inhabitants of the virtual world.
