The new PlayStation-exclusive hit has clearly had a tailor-made sales start. According to market analysts, the sales figures look quite optimistic.
Insomniac Games has unveiled Marvel’s Wolverine , the next action game in the Marvel Universe. This is generally considered a success, although not absolutely outstanding. Despite this, the title seems to be well-received by players.
According to market analysts Alina analysis Sony’s PlayStation exclusive became an immediate box office hit, selling approximately 1.9 million copies within three days of release. It is said that digital pre-orders for the game alone have reached 1 million. It is said that physical game versions account for approximately 22.9% of total sales, which seems to highlight Sony’s decision to rely solely on digital game versions from 2028 onwards. Total sales of the game in its first few days were said to be $130 million.
This means that while Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t quite as impressive as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it still compares favorably to other PlayStation-exclusive reboots like Death Stranding 2: Beaches. Even compared to younger PS5 exclusives like Saros, which sold around 510,000 copies, Wolverine is significantly stronger. Sony and Insomniac Games will likely view the start of sales as a commercial success.
On top of that, players who have already played Insomniac’s Marvel games are said to be involved. The games with the most overlapping player bases are Marvel’s Spider-Man (82%), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (70%), and Spider-Man: Miles Morales (67%).
