In-Xbox publisher Activision is now responsible for the Halo series. At the very least, this will be a new installment in the series, and they plan to form a separate team within Activision for it. Meanwhile, Halo Studios hasn’t closed yet, but it’s losing staff significantly. Additionally, the Rare and World’s Edge teams are working under the leadership of Xbox game studio Activision.
Activision on its social networks commented Changes were made to Xbox that promised Halo would be the best entry in the series.
We’re excited to welcome Halo, Rare, and World’s Edge to Activision. This is an honor and responsibility for us and we take it very seriously. For decades, these teams and their games have inspired fans around the world.
When it comes to Halo, our goal is clear: to create the best Halo game ever, worthy of its universe and legacy, while staying true to what made players love the series in the first place. It’s an audacious goal that this team deserves. We have begun assembling a dedicated team with unique abilities and talents, ready and enthusiastic to create this next chapter with the community. To the World’s Edge and Rare teams, we would like to say that we look forward to working together.
There’s no word yet on what will happen to Rare and World’s Edge under Activision’s control.
