Blizzard’s new StarCraft shooter won’t be available exclusively for Xbox consoles. The studio is owned by Microsoft, which has now been officially confirmed, but platform issues are still up in the air.
On the occasion of BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment recently announced a new shooter set in the famous sci-fi universe, simply called StarCraft. There have been many rumors about this project before, but it has now been officially confirmed. However, there is still a long way to go before its release in 2030.
But which platforms does StarCraft actually appear on? Now that Microsoft has essentially rediscovered an exclusive top-tier game for its own console, will this game finally be an Xbox exclusive? Blizzard Entertainment has officially denied this!
Compared to our English-speaking colleagues my city A Blizzard spokesperson confirmed after BlizzCon that “StarCraft” will not become an Xbox exclusive. “At this time all we can say is that StarCraft will not be exclusive,” this brief statement also left room for speculation.
The only fix is that the Xbox console isn’t exclusive, but does that mean a release on other consoles such as the new PlayStation? This is not clear! Maybe Blizzard just meant the PC version – after all, this is where the StarCraft series grew up in the strategy genre.
StarCraft is still a long way off; therefore, platform issues may persist for quite some time.
