Ahead of the massive layoffs in July that marked the beginning of the “Xbox Reboot,” multiple sources reported various information about what actions the head of Microsoft’s gaming division planned to take. Not all information from insiders and reporters has been completely confirmed, but almost all have pinpointed the studios that will suffer from the Xbox decision.
This week, new rumors began to emerge about Microsoft’s plans to change its gaming division. First, VGC reporter Andy Robinson announced “bad news for Xbox,” and then information emerged from several other sources:
- version information released a piece of information announcing this week’s Xbox plans. According to them, Microsoft plans to lay off “hundreds of employees” and will also merge multiple studios.
- reporter Jason Schreier Speaking on the Triple Click Podcast, he said that “Blizzard is preparing for imminent layoffs.”
- Insider nate hater writes that various Halo news is in preparation: “Everyone is going to react differently to Halo news. Layoffs are certainly bad; but as for the future of the franchise… people are going to react differently.”.
- Jazz Corden Windows Central hints that the “future of Halo” is coming “soon.”
Xbox has yet to make an official comment on the upcoming changes. Previously, Asha Sharma said that the gaming division planned to lay off 3,200 employees during the year, while only 1,600 professionals were laid off in July.
