Geely Automobile Holdings has launched artificial intelligence-based electric vehicle charging technology that can charge batteries from 10% to 70% in less than five minutes, according to its data. The technology, which uses algorithms to predict battery temperature and regulate power, will be launched with a new generation of smart charging stations. The peak power of the power station reaches 2250 kilowatts.

The Chinese automaker provided the results of internal testing of its new charging technology. According to Geely, the new technology can charge the Zeekr 001 sedan and Lynk & Co 10 hybrid from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, while charging these electric vehicles to 97% takes less than 9 minutes.
Amid falling domestic demand and growing competition, electric vehicle makers are turning to new battery technology to ease driver concerns about limited range. Geely’s move challenges BYD, which earlier this year introduced technology that can charge batteries from 10% to 70% in five minutes.
BYD, which has been China’s best-selling car brand since 2023, has surpassed Tesla to become the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. Geely is actively developing new technologies, including batteries and charging stations, to compete directly with BYD’s solutions. Although Geely led BYD in sales in the first two months of the year, it lost ground to its rivals in the following months.
