For decades, game developers weren’t particularly keen on making horror projects based on the Saw movies. Apart from the two very dubious and unconvincing projects of Saw and Saw II: Flesh and Blood, which are respectively 17 and 16 years old, a relatively large game project in the series was only announced this summer – Saw Genisode, and now the developers have collected the first comments from participants in closed beta.
Particularly due to these reviews, the developers realized that the game was currently too “raw” and that even with “Early Access” they would not be able to complete it on time by the originally specified deadline (end of 2026). As a result, today’s developers report Regarding delaying the early access opening of “SAW Genesis” to early next year.
Let’s remember that SAW Genesis is pitched as an asymmetrical cooperative horror game. The game will be similar to the film series of the same name only in name and general idea: the events of “Genesis” take place a hundred years before the internal chronology of the film – in the early 20th century, we play the judge, whose ideology later became that of “Saw”, and three criminals who must escape the judge’s trap.
According to the developers, in order to survive, criminals need to work as a team, and the procedurally generated locations will help prevent them from memorizing the levels and losing interest in the project.
