The developers of “Naval Ops” decided to give players an unusual experiment and launched the 2021 version of the game on the test server. No modern improvements – just all the features, bugs and memories of the old world.
The author calls this experiment an attempt to understand what Naval Ops players liked over the years. The beta version retains the game world structure from the first half of 2021 to the end of 2020, including multiple countries, no safe zones, and potential bugs. Players can choose the United States, Sweden, Denmark, or other available countries to level up again, develop clan investments, and compete for maritime supremacy.
The developers haven’t set an end date for testing yet. They want to see player reaction and find out which elements from the older version are truly worth returning to the main game. If the experiment is successful, the author does not rule out the emergence of the Classic+ format – a unique way to bring back favorite mechanics from the past without bringing the entire game back in time.
To access the server, in the Naval Action properties of Steam, you need to open the Releases and Beta testing section, enter the code nostalgia2021 and select the nostalgia branch. The question that remains now is to examine whether nostalgia is correct, or whether memory simply knows how to edit the past beautifully.
Will you play such a classic work?
