As part of a comprehensive presentation, publisher Ubisoft and development studio Ubisoft Massive have detailed Echoes of Central Park, an upcoming content expansion for third-person shooter The Division 2. Set to launch on November 3, 2026, the DLC opens a new chapter in the game’s narrative, bringing agents of the Strategic Home Division directly into the legendary Manhattan park for the first time, which has been under strict lockdown since the outbreak of the Dollar Flu. In terms of content, the tone of the expansion pack is obviously darker, with obvious horror elements. In addition to a fresh Upper West Side storyline and new allies, the add-on introduces a dynamic end-game hunting system, unique terrain customization, and soon, full cross-platform play.
After the threat posed by rogue agent Aaron Keener collapsed and his underground network was dismantled, the situation in New York was considered largely under control on the surface. Yet the vast Central Park has been a blank spot on emergency services’ maps since the first days of the pandemic: it was used as a makeshift mass grave and quarantine area by disaster control agency CERA, but the area was completely cordoned off after the chaotic initial outbreak.
The starting point of the new plot is an interrupted distress call, emanating from deep within the densely overgrown park, suggesting that a ragtag group of Keena followers or a militant splinter group of Cleaners and Rikers are there to deal with the dangerous biological legacy.
The player’s journey will not only lead to Central Park and the Upper West Side, but also to a newly constructed safe house. There, you’ll be supported by a three-man team consisting of Braley, Morse, and Elwood, who will also accompany you on your mission. The personal backgrounds and traumas of these characters are woven directly into the plot of the story.
Environment-wise, Massive Entertainment relies on darker terrains than its predecessor, overgrown with vegetation and featuring flooded subway shafts. Twice the size of the Brooklyn Expansion, the map’s design emphasized vertical engagements, narrow sight lines, and constant threat perception, sowing the seeds of panic outside known park areas among factions who were also investigating park operations.
Endgame also gets supplies in the park. As players travel through the depths of the park, they are pursued by constant threats. The longer and more risky the operation in the restricted area, the more aggressive the pursuer’s behavior will be. In return, your chances of earning high-quality loot and exclusive gear modifiers increase.
The release of the DLC will be supplemented by the following introduction of cross-platform cross-play, but no specific date has been given yet.
To prepare the player base for the upcoming content, registration is now open for the closed beta phase of the new Survivor game mode. In addition, Ubisoft is running a free promotion for the main game this weekend until September 28, with all progress transferred to the purchase of the currently heavily discounted Standard Edition. The ongoing Red Moon Rising in-game event also kicks off a series of other seasonal events leading up to the release of Echoes of Central Park.
