The creators of the massive reboot World of Warcraft: Forever continue to share details about the project’s development. Blizzard’s world builder Matthew Armstrong has publicly stated that the team is deliberately avoiding any elements from the current version of the game in order to provide an authentic vanilla experience.
The developers say that creating a project with the spirit of a classic from two decades ago required a huge amount of effort and the abandonment of modern technology such as advanced height maps. Armstrong stressed that maintaining the game’s challenging and social component, including the need to manually find partners, remains a top priority for the studio. The team firmly believes that the pursuit of universal comfort destroys the true spirit of adventure and robs the game of its original magic.
