After years of searching, I finally found it Full TV commercial for Xevious Made exclusively for North American arcade release, by Atari. Jumpman, a member of the Alexandria Game Preservation Group, found the video in an old recording of a Phillies-Mets baseball game that aired on April 5, 1983.

Until recently, the most complete testimony about the ad came from just one person Recording posted on YouTube in 2017 Tony Roy. The user explained that he had recorded sound as a child, saying: “When I was a kid, we couldn’t afford a VCR, so I used a tape recorder to record the sound of the TV… While I was recording the sound of the show, the TV commercial played for an Atari arcade game.”
The discovery of the recording prompted several enthusiasts to seek out the footage as well, but for a long time it appeared to have been lost. Some clips have been identified in an episode Star Carda television show aired in the United States in the 1980s devoted to arcade video games, but these were only short clips without sound.

So one user who’s been searching for the ad for years concluded that these clips, along with the full recording, are now “better than nothing.” However, the full video has been available online for more than three years, hidden in a Nearly three hours of tapes from a 1983 baseball game. The commercial break is located approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes into the film.
Due to Jumpman’s discovery, advertising is now retained in Archives Networkallowing us to finally see the ad in its entirety, which for decades has survived only in audio and TV clips. Phrases that appeared in the ad, including “Xevious is on my tail” and “Are you evil enough to defeat Xevious?” can now finally be heard and seen in their original context.
