Insiders argue with Xbox chief over status of Grand Theft Auto VI on Xbox Series XS

Grand Theft Auto VI is this year’s major release and will be released on November 19th. The game will be released exclusively on Xbox Series X | S and Playstation 5. However, it was promoted by Rockstar in conjunction with Sony, with promotional materials claiming that the Playstation 5 was the best place to play games.

This week, The Verge insider and reporter Tom Warren Material Speaking about weak GTA 6 pre-orders on Xbox Series X | S. According to him, this raises concerns about the future of the platform as a whole:

Xbox sources tell me that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are heavily skewed toward PS5, raising more concerns about the platform. Xbox hardware revenue has declined for three consecutive years, and “RAMgeddon” is causing the price of the Xbox Series X console to become higher and higher. It’s getting harder to predict what all this means for Project Helix, Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox console.

Tom, we are very pleased with the pre-order results for GTA VI. The game is breaking records on Xbox, and we expect more records to be broken throughout the fall. Our internal analysis shows that our booking share is consistent with our share of the console market.

In response to this news, Tom Warren asked what market share Xbox has, but a Microsoft representative has yet to give an answer. Equally interesting is another well-known insider, Tom Henderson, who responded to the conversation. he wrote Matthew Ball’s statement reads:

Hello Matt. According to your internal analysis, the ratio of upgrading or purchasing current generation GTA 6 consoles compared to competitors is 1 to 3, or is that changing?

I guess this game is breaking pre-order and sales records for third party games, or is there another reason?

I think it goes without saying that console market share corresponds to pre-order share, so it makes sense that pre-orders are heavily skewed towards competition, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the source (the developers) don’t care about everything that’s going on. But in the long run, it’s good to know you’re happy with your GTA 6 pre-order.

Xbox representatives have also yet to respond to Tom Henderson’s message.
