MSI launches three AM4 motherboards based on AMD B550 chipset for Ryzen 3000, 4000G and 5000 processors

MSI has quietly expanded its line of motherboards featuring the AM4 processor socket, launching three new models: one in microATX format and two in ATX format. The new products Pro B550M WIFI6E, Pro B550-S and Pro B550-S WIFI6E are designed for use with AMD Ryzen 3000, 4000G and 5000 series processors.

The Pro B550M WIFI6E model comes in microATX form factor. Its dimensions are 243.84×210 mm. The new product has a simple design. Only the AMD B550 chipset has a small heatsink. The components of the VRM power subsystem do not have standard cooling.

This motherboard is equipped with two DIMM slots for DDR4 memory and supports speeds of 4600+ MT/s (overclocked). This motherboard provides 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 and 2 PCIe 3.0 x1 slots, as well as – 1 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and 4 SATA III ports (6 Gb/s) for connecting storage devices. The pre-installed Wi-Fi 6E module is responsible for wireless communication.

Pro B550-S and Pro B550-S WIFI6E are full-size ATX boards. Their dimensions are 243.84 × 304.8 mm. Among them, MSI uses a more efficient cooling system, including independent radiators for the VRM area, chipset and top M.2 slot.

Both motherboards are equipped with four DDR4 memory DIMM slots, support up to 128 GB RAM, and can reach speeds of 4800+ MT/s in overclocking mode. This set of expansion connectors includes two PCIe x16, one PCIe x1, two M.2 slots and four SATA III ports. The first M.2 slot supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode, and the second M.2 slot operates in PCIe 3.0 x4 mode. The rear panel of the board has USB Type-A and Type-C ports with data transfer speeds of 5 Gbit/s, and Type-A and Type-C ports with data transfer speeds of 10 Gbit/s.

The Pro B550-S WIFI6E model also comes with the Wi-Fi 6E module pre-installed. All three boards use the Realtek ALC897 7.1-channel audio codec and the Realtek RTL8111H gigabit network controller. MSI has not announced the price and availability information of the new products in the international market.
