In June of this year, Asha Sharma announced that Xbox would return to console exclusivity. Then they immediately announced that by 2026, the game that would forever be exclusive to the Xbox Series X console | S would be Gears of War: E-Day. In 2027, Clockwork Revolution was announced as an exclusive. Meanwhile, Xbox management noted that there will be other exclusive projects “as business improves,” but did not reveal the titles of specific games.
Famous game industry insider Jeff Grubb Tellthere’s another Xbox exclusive confirmed, but it’s still in the early stages of production. According to him, that game was the new Halo, but it was later cancelled.
Aside from the already-released Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, Xbox isn’t currently developing any exclusive games. Sources claim that one of the new Halos was supposed to be a platform exclusive, but its development was canceled and is still far from release. The “Halo” series has now been taken over by Activision Blizzard, and the team has not released any exclusive titles since joining Xbox.
Previously, insiders said that Halo Studio planned to release “a small Halo based on Halo: First Strike” in 2027. Jeff Grubb didn’t specify whether his words referred to that project, or the full-fledged Halo 7, which is also in development but is still in a very early stage.
