Pearl Abyss delays major expansion pack release Crimson Desert Enhanced Edition: Mapping the Unknown Two weeks. Initially, the DLC was expected to be released on October 15th, but now the release date is October 29th, 2026. The developer explains that the change in timing is due to the need to gain more time to complete content and improve the stability of the game.
However, this transfer does not change the scale of Mapping the Unknown itself. The addition should significantly expand the possibilities for exploring the world crimson desertand will embark on an adventure far away from land for the first time. Players will be able to sail their own ship to the high seas, explore new islands, dive underwater and search for sunken ruins, treasures and other hidden places.

The ocean theme is more than just a way to reach new points on the map. The DLC will feature full-scale maritime combat and new enemies, with the developers placing special emphasis on the presence of land and underwater threats. This will add another layer of exploration to the game’s already vast world and force players to adjust their strategies depending on where they encounter them.
These changes will also affect peace activities. In Draw Unknown, the development of your own space will be linked to an updated housing system: players will be able to build and equip houses, as well as control various objects, which will allow them to earn additional income. In addition, Pearl Abyss offers new opportunities to interact with Pavel residents and strengthen relationships.
The add-on’s plot will also be rendered as multiple separate lines. According to the official description, players will have to face mysteries in the desert, political conflicts, journeys beyond the usual flow of time, and ancient secrets hidden beneath the sea. Cliff, Anka and Damiana will be at the center of new adventures as they continue their own stories.

Meanwhile, Pearl Abyss continues to actively transform the Red Desert itself. In August, the game received a major free update, Enhanced 2.0, which consolidated previously released post-launch changes into a single version, adding new story scenes and dialogue, additional voice languages, and updates to the character development system. Along with the skill rework came Cliff’s new abilities, as well as the ability to start a new game by transferring some of his accumulated progress.
After the release of enhanced version 2.0, developers did not stop. A new patch was released in September, fixing bugs and improving stability. For example, update 2.03 adds more precise camera controls in photo mode, improves water sports mechanics, and expands the new channel system to include portable silver.

As a result, the move to Plotting the Unknown looks more like a continuation of Crimson Desert’s ongoing improvements than a change in plans for the expansion itself. Pearl Abyss dedicates additional time to polishing, while the DLC content remains the same: new territories, sea voyages, underwater exploration, new enemies, an expanded housing system, and additional storylines.
Charting the Unknown is now available on October 29, 2026. Players who pre-order will also receive exclusive diving kits for Cliff, Unka and Damiana.
