As promised, Gears of War: E-Day, the highly anticipated adventure shooter developed by Xbox-owned Canadian studio The Coalition, received its first reviews from professional critics on October 1st.

The game’s shortcomings include a bland plot, uneven pacing and narrative quality, dull ancillary content, questionable partner AI, and optimization quirks typical of projects running on Unreal Engine 5.

Many publications don’t give ratings before testing the multiplayer component

Critics agreed that Gears of War: E-Day proved to be an excellent action game, however, people are unlikely to run out to the stores and buy a new Xbox Series X or S. New products are not going to be system sellers.

Gears of War: E-Day will be released on PC on October 6 (steam, microsoft store), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Owners of the Premium version can access the game today at 18:00 Moscow time.
