Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple expert at Bloomberg, said that Apple will launch the long-awaited MacBook Pro notebook computer equipped with an OLED touch display in October or November this year. The new 14-inch and 16-inch models will feature the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max chip, a thinner body, and a dynamic island instead of the current display notch.

Gurman added in the first episode of the Power On podcast that Apple is testing the laptops based on a beta version of the macOS 27.2 operating system. An official update for the operating system is expected to be released at the end of October, so a MacBook Pro with a touch screen could be released as soon as this month.
The touchscreen model is expected to capture a higher market share than the standard 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, which will reportedly switch to M7 Pro and M7 Max chips next year. It’s unclear whether the touch models will retain the MacBook Pro name, or if Apple will give them a new unique name, such as MacBook Ultra.
Gurman previously reported that Apple is considering releasing laptops with built-in cellular support that can connect to 5G or LTE networks. In that regard, some Apple fans are hoping that the expected touchscreen MacBook Pro models will come with a proprietary C1X or C2 modem.
